This is partly due to aging and co-morbidities, but also to the use of other substances that may be included in alternative treatments, supplements, steroids, recreational drugs, etc.

In memoriam of Andrea De Luca

Andrea De Luca just passed away. He was a visionary person, as a clinician, a researcher and a teacher, with an incredible passion for his work and his fellows. He was a real European, not only because of the collaborations, but as a state of mind. His efforts in creating an HIV resistance network explain perfectly is concept of research. He really pursued an idea of science without borders. His utopist idea was to work in developing countries the same way we work in our European countries and with the Dream project he succeeded.  As a human being he was a friend who liked to listen, who was very generous of time and teaching with his fellows and who incredibly loved his children. For all these reasons, what we feel today a profound sense of emptiness. We, as European HIV clinicians, will miss his ideas, his smile and his kindness.
