WHO/CDC update on HIV testing: Rationale for not using WB and LIA & what is the best approach.

30 March 2021- 12.00 PM CET time

Based on evidence, in 2019 WHO recommended against the use of western blotting (WB) and line immunoassays (LIA) in routine HIV testing services. These should be replaced with simpler tests in HIV testing services that include rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs) that are easy to use at the point-of-care, and enzyme immunoassays (EIAs).  The CDC recommended HIV testing approach also is based on advances in HIV diagnostic testing and does not rely on WB.

This online webinar aims at presenting and discussing the evidence behind the currently recommended approach by WHO and CDC and the context of WHO European Region countries with focus on the East and Centre of the Region.

Simultaneous translation English/Russian will be provided.
