Dear members,
It is with great pleasure that I take over the role as President of EACS this month. I do so in the knowledge that EACS has gone from strength to strength under the excellent stewardship of Prof Manuel Battegay over the last 4 years. There are now currently excellent governing structures in place and EACS has developed numerous collaborative links with other societies. There have been a number of exciting and innovative developments in many areas including WAVE, Standard of Care meetings, a new Young Investigators Conference, and of course the expansion and continuation of EACS HIV Summer School.
Next year promises to be another exciting year in EACS development and we are already in the process of organising the 2017 HIV Summer School together with the EACS 2017 Conference organized in October in Milan. None of this would be possible without the strong support of the secretariat under the leadership of Joëlle Verluyten for which I am truly grateful.
I look forward to working with Jürgen Rockstroh as Vice President, the Governing Board and the Regional Representatives with the hope of reaching out to the new generation of HIV/AIDS clinical physicians ensuring their involvement in future development and leadership of the Society.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
Prof Fiona Mulcahy
EACS President
