Message from the President

Dear EACS Members,

It is a great pleasure to, on the brink of the New Year, welcome you on this newly featured EACS website. A short look back to 2014 shows that we were again very active as a Society in 2014; highlights to mention are the two summer courses, the 12^th Advanced HIV Course and the 4^th European Clinical Research Course (ECReCO), which were very actively attended by participants from all over the world, with a distinguished faculty enthusiastically teaching both clinical and scientific aspects of HIV. Furthermore, the establishment of a new High Prevalence Countries e-learning Course for training and education in HIV. Last but not least, the now newly issued EACS Guidelines are displayed on the website and will be soon also available for you as a Member at no additional charge on the EACS app.

For the first time a Standard of Care meeting took place in Rome, while Italy held the rotating EU Presidency, with Regional Representatives from twenty-two countries in Europe discussing critical issues concerning access and quality of care within different regions of Europe.

In 2015 the EACS Educational Exchange Program will be re-launched. Behind the scenes, we are working on the final steps.

Importantly, a new Governance Structure is now in place with an active role for Regional Representatives from the different European Regions, as well as for Working Groups to better reflect the different tasks and the vision of the EACS and to ensure broad participation of members.

The Governing Board wishes to thank all who contributed to the continuous success of EACS, in particular Joelle Verluyten and her team, leading the EACS secretariat.

Upcoming newsletters will provide further information about the next summer courses, the EACS conference in 2015 in Barcelona, as well as ongoing projects within EACS.
