European Clinical Research Course
Most clinical physicians are not taught basic research skills during their academic studies.
5th ECReCO
29-31 August 2015
Applications are now closed.
This EACS course is about translating clinical observations into research questions, developing questions into viable research projects, competing for clinical research grants or writing coherent reports and concise abstracts. It is vital to pass on these basic skills to the new generation of clinicians interested in research.
The first European Clinical Research Course was held in 2011 in Zagreb, Croatia. It was organised in collaboration with Professor Josip Begovac and was primarily directed at physicians from Central Asia, Caucasus and Southeast Europe. It was attended by thirty-three trainees.
Since 2012, enrollment is open to candidates from all countries and the course is held right after the Advanced HIV Course in Aix-en-Provence, France. A total of eighty-three physicians have been trained since. Just like the Advanced HIV Course, more than half of the participants obtain a scholarship covering registration, tuition, travel, and accommodation. The other participants pay a moderate fee of 150 euros covering registration, tuition, and accommodation.
A maximum of 30 participants can be enrolled. Interested participants must be physicians or clinical scientists working in infectious diseases and/or HIV. They may also apply for the Advanced HIV Course.
Applicants are selected on their CV and involvement in the HIV field. A moderate fee of 150 euros covers registration and accommodation (due after confirmation). A limited number of scholarships is available to applicants from low-income countries.
The 2015 5th ECReCo is accredited by the European Accreditation Council of Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) for a maximum of 17 hours of European external CME credits.
