EACS Regional Elections
The Governing Board consists of 16 members from the 4 European scientific regions: Europe-East, Europe-North, Europe-South, Europe-West. For governance purpose, each region has 4 members with a maximum of 2 members from the same country. The Governing Board members are elected by the EACS members through the European regional elections for a mandate of 4 years.
The Governing Board elects the Bureau among its members, consisting of the President, Vice-President, the Secretary, and Treasurer. The President and Vice-President are elected for a period of 2 years renewable. The mandates of Secretary and Treasurer are awarded for a period of 4 years renewable. The Immediate Past President stays on the Bureau for a period of years.
The Vice-President automatically becomes President at the end of their mandate.
The members of the Governing Board are appointed or reappointed at the General Assembly. They must be medical doctors and not be older than 65 years at the beginning of the mandate and not older than 70 years at the end of the mandate.
The Governing Board has the power to manage and administer the association, except for what is reserved by law or the Articles of Association to the General Assembly of members.
